Birthday Intentions
Every year around my birthday I work on setting goals and intentions for the year ahead. I’ve always taken the more traditional route of setting goals in each area of my life, setting tangible, measurable steps.
This year I’m trying something new that has me thinking a little differently and is creating more opportunity for experimenting and joy. I am creating a list of “38 Things for 38” that will include:
5 Big Things (major goals, accomplishments, milestones): these still give me the satisfaction of working toward more traditional goals and accomplishments
10 Experiences (things I want to see, do or experience): These are about living and having new experiences that may be really simple or a little more involved.
10 Experiments/Practices/Habits to Try: This section is meant to help me be curious about ways of living or habits that I’ve wanted to explore, while taking the pressure off making any significant or long-term commitment.
13 Little Joys; These are exactly what the heading suggests little ways of injecting moments of joy into day to day life.
While creating my list, I continue to be mindful of my values of Self Care, Self-Development, Order , Freedom , Adventure , Connection , Kindness & Joy being guideposts.
38 Things for 38 is helping me to focus more on how I want to experience my year, opening opportunities for curiosity and discovery while still setting some clear intentions and milestones that are important to me.
